Fun summer so far

The rains took a break long enough last Thursday for my kids and I to drive into Boston and have lunch with my old co-workers at Tantric, all you can eat Indian buffet. The pic above was taken with my cellphone by Jonah, who turns eight this Thursday.

Here's my attempt at a picture. The phone camera was on 'night mode'. From left to right we have Nicole, Alex, Carol, Jesse, Jayden, Jonah and Monisha. Jayden loved the basmatti rice and chick peas. Jonah loved everything, including the vermicilli pudding, aka wormy pudding.



I'm finding the Hingham and Weymouth Public Libraries a wonderful resource for things to do this summer. There's a great playground outside of Weymouth's main branch. Both libraries have wonderful books to borrow, as well as DVDs, CDs and Wii games. As a Hingham resident I can also get museum passes from the Hingham library. We've already been to the Museum of Science for $5 each. And last Wednesday we got into the Franklin Park Zoo for only $2 each.

The at-times pouring rain made for mixed reviews. Jesse was dressed in only a flimsy t-shirt and was cold and a bit miserable as we trudged around the park. Jonah, on the other hand, said the rain made it more fun (he was wearing a sweatshirt), the funnest he's ever had at a zoo. Jayden enjoyed the zoo and rain, too. Eventually I bought them all caps from the gift shop. And a gorilla sweatshirt for Jesse. So, despite the discounted admissions, it ended up being a pretty costly trip. But it was memorable! And that's what summers are about :-)...


There's a new series on NBC, Merlin. It's kind of an origins story about Merlin, the famous wizard of Camelot during King Arthur's reign. But the show follows Merlin when he's still a teenager, coming to grips with his magical powers. And Arthur is still a prince, with his father, King Uther, lording over the kingdom, a not very sympathetic figure. We love the show!
